First Gabe made a PAC, then a pallet side table, then taught a youth group how to make PACs and now he’s made a Pallet Swing!! Now that is great. Maybe we can convince him to put together a DIY Guide for this beauty. Great job Gabe…as always.
another weekend, another project. i made a porch swing from pallets.
Gabe Landes recently guided a group of students coined as “Team Chair” through the Pallet Adirondack Chair build process for Asheville’s Green Opportunities Program. Here is a snippet from Gabe’s description of the day,
“I only had 3 students on day 1. The other students (those working on the compost bin and the picnic table) were making fun of the chair. Kept saying it looked like junk and was gonna fall apart.
We finished the first chair on day 1. The naysayers were impressed, said the chair was really comfortable. They called it the “chair that makes you want to stop working”. Team chair felt a great sense of accomplishment. One day two, all the students jumped in on two more chairs. The students from team chair on day 1 were teaching the other students how to make the PAC, how to read the plans. It was great to see.”
Awesome work Gabe and “Team Chair”. Helping people learn new skills is the ultimate goal of Repurposed Goods so if there are any other opportunities out there like this please feel free to contact me!
The pallet coolness continues with Gabe Landes upcycling last weekend! Check out this side table!
did a little upcycling this past weekend. i made an end table and a shelf from pallets. pallet wood is a friendly material. after working hard for many months holding heavy stuff and being moved around by fork lifts, it appreciates being in a home and human touch.
it is good to have a great pallet hook up in town.
A “PAC” in Portland!! Thanks to Kelley Roy and her crew over there at Art Department, we were able to dismantle pallets and build 3 chairs for the IDSA International Conference. Stenciled with their logo…these chairs have been places throughout the conference as a better place to sit and enjoy the presentations.
Huge thanks to Karen MacKay and Gabe Landes for helping me put this crazy stuff together. I really couldn’t have done it without them…I owe you two more beers (good ones!).
