What a fantastic idea! This really makes me look at planters differently, especially the square ones. Maybe there is a good DIY out there to make some great looking concrete planters….although, finding them would certainly be better! Reclaimed aggregates…hmm.
A planter-bench like this — made from reclaimed materials — could be useful in urban yards or for small-space gardening in other places.
The bench is made from salvaged scaffolding planks and the planters are cast concrete with re-claimed aggregates.

A little birdy sat on the PAC chair outside my office today and chirped, “I need a cool modern roost!” I responded with, “I have one at my house…it’s not here, sorry” in my best chickadee. Without responding he flew away, hopefully to my house to claim the Merlin birdhouse.
Seeing as though there might be hundreds if not billions of birds out there without proper modern digs, I figured it was my duty to give the guide to the masses for free!! (I have been meaning to do this for quite some time!) Build it and they will flock…or a squirrel will sit on top of it and chew on pecans.

Great looking barrel chair made from BARRELS over at FAB.com! What a concept. I think we over here at RG like chairs.
Side note, the RG site will be going through some changes here soon so please don’t get upset too much. We are building out a market and will soon be doing a CALL FOR DESIGNERS. Know of anyone that makes a product out of discarded / repurposed material? If so, send them our way!
Recycled barn wood beams made into fantastic stools, rightly named, BEAM. Matt and Melissa Alexander from Holler Design created these amazing pieces. It is difficult to see, but the top of the stools show the trees’ rings and how they puzzle pieced the three parts together. Torched, sanded and finished for a really natural look. Oh I love this repurposed good…
Candice N. strikes again. Pallets Adirondack Chairs, or in the case “Love Seats” are becoming short work for her which leads me to believe that she needs a new project. A new DIY Guide…a new spring build. Hmmmm…more pictures of Candice N.’s PACs and her swank Florida waterside paradise after the break.
Another great pallet structure find by Unconsumption. I love the use of local natural materials… Check out their other domains made of pallets…craziness! (PalletHouse)
In South Africa, designers Andreas Claus Schnetzer and Pils Gregor used wood pallets in building an affordable prototype home known as the “Slumtube.” Local natural materials, such as clay and straw, provide insulation.

I have been tearing down some pallets for two upcoming events.
First off, a chair that RG is donating to a Knoxville Opera auction on November 6th. This chair is going to be rather posh; it will be sanded, painted with orange and white accents and have the opera logo on the back. The best part, it might just come with a wing glass holder! Very high class for such a low chair.
Second, RG will be showcasing its goods from November 26th - December 30th at the Indie Craft Fair Holiday Pop-Up Shop boutique at the Alliance Theatre (think Woodruff Art Center / High Museum). More to come on the goods being sold there!
Side note, Deek’s Humble Homes DIY book is awesome…review coming soon!
